Ryan Murphy’s upcoming sci-fi series The Beauty has secured an impressive ensemble cast, including Evan Peters, Ashton Kutcher, Jeremy Pope, and Anthony Ramos. The show, based on the 2016 comic book series by Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley, has been greenlit for an 11-episode first season on FX.

Murphy, known for his work on American Horror Story and Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, co-wrote the series with Matthew Hodgson, a frequent collaborator who has worked on Glee and 9-1-1.

While plot details remain under wraps, The Beauty comic follows detectives Foster and Vaughn as they investigate a bizarre epidemic—a sexually transmitted disease that makes the infected more physically attractive but ultimately proves fatal. The series is expected to explore this concept and may incorporate elements of government conspiracy from the comics.

Ramos, coming off his role in Twisters, is also serving as an executive producer, and he is set to appear in the upcoming Marvel series Ironheart. Peters, a longtime collaborator with Murphy, has starred in multiple seasons of American Horror Story and Dahmer: Monster — The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. Pope, who previously worked with Murphy on Hollywood, gained recent acclaim for his role in The Inspection.

Kutcher, who has been less active in recent years, appeared in That ’90s Show and films like Vengeance and Your Place or Mine, following his run on The Ranch.

Murphy’s The Beauty marks his next major project after Delicate, the 12th season of American Horror Story, which featured Kim Kardashian and Emma Roberts.
