Lena Dunham is scripting a film adaptation of Going Infinite: The Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon, Michael Lewis’ 2023 book about FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried. Apple Studios and A24 are producing the project, which is in early development.

Bankman-Fried launched FTX in 2019, a cryptocurrency exchange that gained significant recognition, including a commercial during the 2022 Super Bowl and endorsements from public figures like Tom Brady, Stephen Curry, and Larry David.

In March, Bankman-Fried was sentenced to 25 years in prison and ordered to forfeit over $11 billion after being convicted of fraud, conspiracy, and money laundering. He is currently appealing the conviction and sentence.

Dunham recently completed production on the Netflix romantic comedy series Too Much, which she wrote and directed. The series features a cast including Megan Stalter, Will Sharpe, Richard E. Grant, Janicza Bravo, Michael Zegen, and Emily Ratajkowski. Her prior work includes the films Sharp Stick and Catherine Called Birdy (2022) and the HBO series Girls, which concluded in 2017 after six seasons.

Several of Lewis’ nonfiction books have been adapted into films, including The Blind Side (2009), Moneyball (2011), and The Big Short (2015).

Upcoming projects from Apple and A24 include Spike Lee’s High and Low starring Denzel Washington and the mystery film The Wives featuring Jennifer Lawrence.

Dunham is represented by CAA, ID PR, and Hansen Jacobson.
