casting details
As with all the characters in the Bio-Shock universe, allegiances are never clear from the onset, and a certain degree of moral ambiguity is necessary to sell the role and contribute properly to the atmosphere. Elena Anaya has already performed in some American films, usually in fairly minor roles. Her recent performance in Pedro Almodovar’s The Skin I Live In though, suggests an underutilized talent by American filmmakers. Her ability to convey a sort of emotional vacancy will serve her well too, as her relationship with the other characters of the game is strained at best. Highly intelligent, she is the genetic scientist who initially developed ADAM, and created the Little Sisters. Though not afforded a huge amount of screen time, her role as a “mother” figure towards these human-like creatures is at the heart of the film’s moral question about the perfection of the human body and the question of moral agency.
