Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films are moving forward with their highly anticipated live-action Masters of the Universe movie, and the casting news is starting to shape the film into an exciting project for fans of the 1980s toy franchise.

Alison Brie has secured the key role of Evil-Lyn, one of the most iconic villains from the Masters of the Universe universe. Brie, currently starring in Peacock’s thriller Apples Never Fall, will bring her dynamic range to the complex character, known for her dark magic and fierce loyalty to Skeletor.

Joining Brie in the cast is Nicholas Galitzine, who takes on the lead role of He-Man, the legendary hero wielding the power of Grayskull. Galitzine has been building momentum with roles like The Idea of You, and his portrayal of the muscular, morally steadfast hero will be pivotal in bringing the beloved story to life.

Camila Mendes, known for Riverdale, will portray Teela, captain of the royal guard and potentially a romantic interest in the story. Mendes brings a fresh perspective to the character, who has always been a fan-favorite for her strength and independence.

The film is directed by Travis Knight, founder of the stop-motion studio Laika and director of Kubo and the Two Strings. Knight’s involvement adds credibility to the project, which has been in development for nearly two decades but now looks set to enter production.

With this cast shaping up, Masters of the Universe is gearing up to be a highly anticipated revival of the beloved franchise. Fans can expect more casting announcements soon as the film moves closer to becoming a reality.
